General Assembly Economic and Finance Committee (GA-ECOFIN)
The Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN) is the second out of six principal committees of the United Nations General Assembly. It was first established in 1945 to deal with global economic and financial matters. Essentially, ECOFIN can only propose solutions and recommendations in draft resolution and does not allow imposing any decisions. Furthermore, ECOFIN has five main bodies that report through it. In this case, it includes the UNFCCC.
Assessing the Mechanism of Green Climate Fund in Financing Climate Change Issues
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) as the world’s largest dedicated climate fund was created to support the efforts of developing countries in responding to the challenges of climate change. It was aimed to limit the increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by providing fund dedicated exclusively to help developing countries to deal with climate change and to assist vulnerable societies in adapting to its unavoidable impacts. However, some challenges still remain with the fund that needs to be addressed, since the GCF has not progressed smoothly and there are no current satisfactory schemes for raising and distributing the fund.
Mohammad Galib Abrar Akhand is currently pursuing his undergraduate in Biochemistry from North South University, Dhaka. He has been involved with MUNs since 2014 and has done more than 40 MUN conferences in home and abroad as a delegate, chair and organizer. Currently he is the Head of Academics at NSU Model UN Club.

La Ode Rifaldi Nedan Prakasa is a second year student at President University in International Relations with a special focus on Diplomacy and Foreign Policy Studies. He is passionate about Model UN since his freshman year at University and periodically joined several MUNs inside and outside Indonesia. In his life outside of MUN, he actively involved in academic research writing and successfully won prestigious writing competitions in PSNMHII, PNMHII, PGD UI and Writingthon ASIAN GAMES. La Ode is incredibly excited to serve as a Chair for the General Assembly and meet all of the delegates at President Model United Nations 2019.
Raihan Zahirah is a final year International Relations student in Parahyangan Catholic University, concentrating on security studies. She shown her expertise in MUN and been chairing various MUN internationally as well as domestically. Last year, she was the only Indonesian student who selected as Plenary Speaker at WIMUN and gave a speech at United Nations General Assembly Hall. She is awarded as The Most Outstanding Student of Parahyangan Catholic University 2019 & The Most Outstanding Student of West Java and Banten 2019. She likes to share knowledge and insight to peoples. She is a person who consistently strives for excellence.
