Cikarang, West Java – Oil and natural gas continues to deplete over the years. 11 members from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) gathers at a conference held at Sahid Jaya Hotel on 16 September 2016 to discuss sustainable alternatives to tackle this issue.
The crisis has caused the increasing rates of unemployment and dire environmental issues. Recognizing that the consequences of this crisis is becoming more evident, ECOSOC delegates strives to find a common ground to resolve the matter.
“We have reached a consensus that we want to start joint ventures between countries that has succeeded in implementing renewable energy with countries that has not succeeded in implementing that kind of technology,” states Handayani Lintang, a representative from the French Republic.
However, the committee encounters an obstacle. Currently, developing countries are experiencing financial crisis, and the council could not afford to assist them with the technologies needed in carrying out the plan.
Upon the circumstance, the committee decides to hold further discussions on tackling this issue. The new and improved draft resolution will be discussed soon.
